Dublin Greek Film Festival will present features, documentaries and short films along with special events in top cultural venues of Dublin.

The Vision

The aim of the Festival is to promote Greek culture through a variety of films and events and show links between Ireland and Greece.

Films

The Festival will showcase the latest films by both internationally established directors and emerging filmmakers, who are currently producing many of the most dynamic, innovative and provocative films in the world.

    The Grocer road documentary

    Traders Nikos and Sophia Anastasiou have been driving the same 75-kilometre route every week since the 1980's - from the city of Trikala, in central Greece, to the south western parts of the Pindus Mountains. Delivering more than just fruit and vegetables, they bring news from the outside world into the remotest villages, and provide practical help for the isolated villagers.

    This special evening screening is in association with the Chester Beatty Library. It will be followed by Q&A with the movie director Dimitris Koutsiabasakos and a wine reception. Event sponsored by Kir-Yianni.

    Mary spends her days looking after the chronically ill, 85 year-old Mr Michalis in a Cypriot village. This older gent is obsessed with the lead female character in a daytime soap opera named ‘Anna’, even referring to Mary by that name at times.
    Eager to understand what is behind Mr Michalis’ fixation with the starlet, Mary’s investigations reveal that Anna’s importance to the old man goes far beyond being a mere character on a TV drama.

    A woman walks alone in a deserted city, in a post-apocalyptic environment, with no recollections. She heads towards the west, where she will be safe, knowing only that she needs to avoid the morning patrol that guards the city. On her course to the unknown, she is approached by a member of the morning patrol who wants to help her reach the sea. Having a fractured memory in common, they will come close to each other, trying to explain what happened.
